• Program coordinators are the frontline contact with farmers and ranchers and are selected for their ability to deliver the EFP process effectively.

• Program coordinators coordinate workshops, market and advertise workshops, and are involved in the review process.

• The program coordinator provides understanding of the process and expectations, helps familiarize participants with the workbook and support resources, and explains risks, both natural and management risks, and compensating factors. The program coordinator paves the way for participants to walk away with a valuable awareness tool and a living, long-term farm plan to address the risks associated with their operation.

• The program coordinator together with the local Technical Assistant form the team which reviews Farm Plans.


Workshop Program Coordinator

The Workshop program coordinators are local farmers or ranchers who are also community leaders with facilitation or adult education backgrounds. They have all completed an EFP for their own operations and have been specially trained to deliver the program.

Bill Lee Bill Lee
Camp Creek

Bill Lee lives in the County of Barrhead, where he has been farming for more than a quarter century, on land farmed by his family since 1911. He has been a certified organic producer for four years and a volunteer instructor for the Classroom Agricultural Program for 13 years. Bill has served as a committee member with the Alberta Environmentally Sustainable Agriculture (AESA) program, an advisory board member for the Lacombe Western Forage and Beef Group, a member of the Barrhead Agricultural Service Board, a 4-H leader and a councilor for the County of Barrhead. The Lee farm received the County of Barrhead Conservation Award in 1991 and the Alberta Cattle Commission's Environmental Stewardship Award in 1994.

Northeast Region

Perry Phillips Perry Phillips
Vilna

Perry Phillips operates a cow-calf farm with his wife Sue and their two daughters near Vilna in Smoky Lake County. Before moving to Vilna a few years ago, they farmed in the Olds-Sundre area. Perry grew up in Saskatchewan on a grain and beef farm, and has been involved in agriculture all of his life. His background is both 'on-farm', and from related endeavors including feed, ag-chemical sales, custom farm work and most recently as a real estate agent specializing in rural property. Perry also worked in Australia for a year in the agricultural sector. Perry is a member of the Bonnie Lake Sustainability Watershed Group, a Director with the Vilna Agricultural Society and involved in various other community activities.

Central Region

Dan Moe Dan Moe
Morrin

Dan Moe operates a 3300-acre dryland farmer at Morrin, Alberta, where he has used no-till, direct seeding techniques for the last decade. He acts as a resource person on winter wheat and fall cereals production for Ducks Unlimited. He has worked for several agricultural chemical companies, giving workshops on such topics as the use of pre-harvest Roundup. He is active with a number of local farm groups, including the West Starland Conservation Club, and has been a participant in the Canadian Agriculture Lifetime Leadership program.

South Region

Brenda Stryker Brenda Stryker
Foremost

Brenda Stryker has been a partner in the family farm near Foremost for over 30 years. On their dryland farm, they grow cereals and pulses. Brenda is a member of the Agriculture and Food Council. She also sits on the Agriculture and Food Council's Innovations for Agricultural Management Fund, a committee that disperses funds to projects that mitigate risk in agriculture. Brenda graduated from the national Canadian Agriculture Lifetime Leadership Training program in 2002; there are only 54 graduates across Canada. Brenda found it to be very valuable and a 'life changing experience'. She is also involved with many local community efforts and organizations.
