The November 21, 2011 deadline for Alberta farmers who want to apply for funding support under the Integrated Crop Management (ICM) program under Growing Forward has been dropped. The program will now remain open as long as funding exists and interested farmers should check regularly for updates.
The Growing Forward ICM program allows producers to apply for funding to support practice change projects toward ICM approaches, based on specific criteria.
Funding limits for program have also been adjusted. Maximum program funding for the ICM program has been adjusted to $10,000 per applicant. Maximum funding for an individual category activity will be $5,000 per applicant. A producer may only apply for funding on one project within each project category.

Alberta producers who have sampled farm well water as part of completing an Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) may be interested in this public inquiry.
The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (OIPC) will be conducting an inquiry regarding the release of water quality information (both chemical and microbiological) related to private drinking water well systems in the province. The water quality information in question was collected by Alberta Health and Wellness through the submission of private well water samples for testing at the Provincial Laboratory and the Centre for Toxicology. This would include samples submitted from 1986 though to 2011.
Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development (ARD) is assisting the OIPC in circulating the notice of inquiry to well owners and rural residents. Deadline for submission of a 'letter of interest' is noon on October 5, 2011. More information is available at this link.
