Even when a fuel tank is empty, residual fuel can still present an environmental and safety hazard. The best bet is to dispose of old used fuel tanks in an approved hazardous waste disposal site. Information on where to find the appropriate disposal sites is available from fuel tank sales outlets, the Action on Waste toll-free number at 1-800-463-6326, or by contacting an AEFP technical assistant (TA) in your area.
