Three tips for better farm waste management

Farm wastes require special care. They can cause health risks and may affect soil and water quality if stored or disposed of in the wrong way. A few effective ways to deal with farm wastes include:
- Reusing as much material and equipment as possible and recycling whenever possible
- Taking other waste material to a licensed landfill site which are controlled and carefully monitored to prevent soil and water contamination
- Composting organic waste material such as manure, leaves, light brush and dead animals or portions of dead animals not exceeding 100 kg (220 lbs)
