Minimum distances for subsurface fields

Subsurface fields, underground fields to which wastewater is discharged and the aerobic treatment of wastewater takes place, are generally most appropriate in loamy soil conditions.
Subsurface treatment fields must be no less than:
- 1.5m (5 feet) from any property line;
- 1m (3.25 feet) from a septic tank or packaged sewage treatment plant;
- 1m (3.25 feet) from any non-basement building;
- 9m (30 feet) from any basement or cellar; and
- 15m (50 feet) from any water source/course.
