November 8, 2006:
When prioritizing the environmental risks on a farm or ranch, it's important to choose a realistic time period in which they can be implemented. A few questions to ask yourself when making these decisions include: Is there an existing impact on family or public health? Does the existing situation violate legislation (violations of environmental law require immediate action)? How seriously does the situation affect water, air or soil quality? How serious are the impacts on biodiversity?
The answers to these questions can also help determine which action items should be addressed first.
