Filing records on decommissioned water wells with the Alberta Environment Groundwater Information Centre in Edmonton is a substantial courtesy to future landowners, says Alberta Agriculture, Food and Rural Development (AAFRD) water specialist Ken Williamson.
"If they've got a record on a well then they also like to record if that well has been decommissioned and when and how it was done, so it's on the database. So if anybody's looking for information on that well, they know it is not in use and has been plugged properly."
